Leotard and tights

Yeah.  Leotard and tights.  I looked way better in a pair when I was 12.

The show I’m in requires me to wear tights (both nude and black) with a black, tank leotard.

Sick.  I’m not in prime shape, but I’m not in bad shape either.  But ugh, that combination was not attractive on my 27 year old body.  No. Thank. You.

First off,  I’m not shaped like a ballet dancer.  That tall and lean thing was never my cup of tea 🙂

Second, I have really strong legs.  That’s great for jumping, but it also means my quads and calves are abnormally large.  The leotard fit height wise but the leg holes were cutting off my circulation.

Third, the cool thing these days is to have convertible tights.  This means there’s a hole in the foot so you can roll the tights up your legs (kinda looks like you’re wearing leggings).  My calves are so large that they don’t roll up past my ankle.  Fail.

Fourth, muffin top.  It’s pretty much inevitable unless you have 0% body fat.  The band on the tights will cut into your stomach.  Unlike the outfits I wear to work – flowy tops – I’m wearing a skin tight leotard.  Not hiding much.

It’s a big test in learning to “love yourself” and gushy stuff like that.  I prefer myself in short running shorts and a tank top.

Did I mention that the leotard + sports bra combination makes my chest look like a 12 year old boy?

Ha!  Never again!  But if you’re in the Livermore area in a few weeks, come on by.  It’ll be the only time you see this girl in a leotard and tights.
