I swam in what?

Sometimes I like being blissfully ignorant.  Take the triathlon, for instance.  I learned AFTER a practice swim, that the water quality levels were less than desirable.  And by less than desirable, I mean filled with poop and e.coli.  They encourage you to “not swallow water.”  Gee, thanks!

We noticed how the state (or beach) decided to declare said levels. “Water EXCEEDS state standards.”  Now, in elementary school, if a student “exceeded expectations,” it meant they were doing well.  If water exceeds the standards, it doesn’t meant you’re swimming in Perrier.  It means you’re swimming in bird crap.

I got swimmer’s itch twice in 4 weeks from Shadow Cliffs. the ducks poop, the snails eat the poop, and a parasite that lives on the snail gets in your skin. But it can’t live in a human so it dies. And then it leaves welts in all the places it died. It sucked. The first time I was racing so I couldn’t rinse after. But, the second time, I did rinse immediately after and I still got it. Not to worry….the poop levels will be back to normal once the temperatures get cooler. 🙂

Nick totally got the itch when he swam with me a few weeks ago. They must find me to be not-so-tasty. Does Nick get them? Maybe it’s an Asian thing 🙂

Gross gross gross. What’s even the point of getting in your skin if it’s just going to die anyway. I had like a million and I rinsed off right away too!

I might have to reconsider doing this triathlon with you at the livermore location…are there others in the area? 🙂

Third time training there for aqua bike and have them all throughout my skin. Try going into a 9 hour shift at work with this… 🙁
