Nick and I spent the 4th of July in Seattle at Nick’s parent’s house. The 4th of July celebrations at “the lake house” date back to college and the party has grown steadily every since.
It was a beautiful summer day in Seattle – mid 70’s and only a few clouds. This obviously beats overcast and or rainy – weather we’ve had in the past.
We were able to hang out and catch up with all sorts of family and friends, enjoy some tasty food, and even made it out on the boat.
My contribution to the smorgasbord were some patriotic rice krispy treats! I didn’t want to use too much food coloring for the blue and red layers because food coloring is evil (I don’t really believe it is evil, but lots of other people do, so I try and go easy). I thought it was going to look too easter-eggy and pastel, but it ended up looking super old fashioned and vintage. I was pretty excited about how they turned out.
We parked ourselves about 100 yds from the barge, sat back and watched the fireworks. Did I mention that we are HORRIBLY spoiled?
The next morning Nick and Steve went water skiing on the lake. I took the opportunity to try out my hand at “action photography.” This turned into “take-as-many-pictures-as-you-possibly-can-and-cross-your-fingers-a-few-turn-out-and-are-moderately-in-focus.”
