Have you ever had that nightmare of getting kidnapped and thrown in the trunk of a car. Well, I’ve had that nightmare and I know that you’re suppose to kick out the lights. That way a perceptive cop will pull your attacker over and rescue you!
Well, Ford has thought of everything. Including a release handle on the inside of the trunk.
You may see that release handle a think, “Bryn, it’s probably just there in case someone accidentally gets stuck in a trunk.” BUT look at the image. The guy (or gal) is literally leaping from the car and running (notice the arm movement). I’m pretty sure this is only for the times when a would-be rapist/murderer has put you in their trunk. Thanks, Ford. You’ve thought of everything.
UPDATE: It’s also glow in the dark! What will they think of next?

I’m more concerned with the car in water scenario. I’m always trying to decide if I save the Husband or the dogs first..
what if your kidnapper removes the release? then you have to submit to kicking out the tail lights? i saw that on psych. also to run in unpredictable patterns. fake out. juke. BOOM. free.
It also glows in the dark too!
Ford didn’t think of it. They resisted it, in fact. But they were mandated by federal law on all 2002 and newer cars sold in the U.S.
The problem with the glow-in-the-dark aspect is that the glow-in-the-dark plastic needs to be exposed to light to “charge” before it will glow, and most of us keep our trunks pretty dark. Nevertheless, it’s a pretty good idea, especially for those who borrow money from mobsters.
Dave! I was totally talking to nick about ‘charging’ the glow in the dark plastic. We realized it wasn’t so smart afterall. Guess the best course of action is to refrain from activities that could cause one to end up in a trunk.
