Napping

I like to be good at things.  If I’m not good, I either work to ensure I’m awesome or quit (softball is the rare thing that I continue to play, but still suck at….I guess I love my husband too much to quit).

On Sunday I remembered something else I’m bad at.  Napping.

I’m not a good napper.

It takes me forever to recover from a nap.

Here’s what happens.

1.  I lay down to take a nap.
2.  Toss and turn, eventually fall asleep.
3.  Alarm goes off and I’m the crankiest girl you’ve ever met.  I seriously pout.
4.  I walk around in a haze for the next 30-45 minutes trying to wake up from my nap.
5.  10PM rolls around and I’m WIDE AWAKE.  Which makes me cranky again.

I nap for less than an hour.  Why does this happen?  Is this how all naps work?  Or is it just me?  Do I just need to suck it up after my nap?

Here’s me, napping after my triathlon from last year….you can see the numbers I tried to scrub off my arm.  Mochi on the other hand, is an excellent napper.  I could learn a thing or 2 from that giant Shih Tzu.

I’m pretty good at napping, but have problems waking up before 2 hours go by. So I don’t nap too often. Grant however, is afraid that what will happen when we have children. Apparently when I’m sleeping I get really cranky if woken up. Sometimes I don’t even know I “wake up” and yell at him. I don’t even know what I say, but I guess I get verbally abusive. 🙂

I don’t think it’s legal to nap until you are at least 40 years old, or you pull an all-nighter!

I’m actually a really good power-napper. I can sleep for 15-30 min, wake up and feel completely rested!! It’s the best sleep ever. But I don’t know if you can learn how to nap…maybe it’s hereditary? We should talk to Nadine about this one! 🙂
